Ears Wide Open with the MSO
This is a bargain, 3 one hour sessions with Conductor Richard Gill and selected members of the MSO. Part concert, part interactive lecture, each Ears Wide Open offers a fascinating insight behind the creation of an important orchestral work and its composer.
TEMERAIRE books by Naomi Novak
Picked up the first of this series because of the lovely Chinese dragon on the front, and I can hardly put them down. They have their slightly duller moments but really who can argue with Hornblower with dragon formula.
So far there are 7 in the series, the individual dragons all have characters and the humans are an interesting Regency lot. History gets twisted a bit over the course of the books, but even that adds somewhat to the fantasy of the series.

Time to update this page.....
Yes folks, it's time for me to start putting bits of life up on the web again, in this case I will be using email to post iPad notes here. At least that is the plan. Pictures included.
Meanwhile - lets cover the last 18 months in a jiffy.
I have taken on two voluntary roles, one as treasurer of a club with 700 members and a monthly turnover of some $5,000 and the second as Editor of the Mordi-Agate news and website developer. see the webpage here.
Also been doing some training roles and done some training myself, including Microbusiness Cert III and now Bookkeeping Cert IV.
I was a volunteer for Melbourne Open house again - at BHP Bilton building as a volunteer on the Sunday but as we arrived in town on the Friday night, we fitted in as much as we could.
Starting with the pop up bar at the Melbourne Gaol - an excellent event; free to wander around the building with a glass of wine in your hand.
Saturday kicked off with Russell Place Substation - A real boys toy place and well worth a visit (we went as I had tickets to the Johnson Collection - about as far from the man cave as you can get). Then we did the Council House 2. term the rest is a bit of a fuzz on Saturday, but the Johnson Collection, in its secret East Melbourne location was interesting. We had tickets for the Kelvin Club that night, another pop up bar, well sort of; its the gentlemen club that evolved from Fitzroy Bowls clubs drinks license. Not as interesting as it promised to be..... sadly the restaurant was closed, and members (who might have been crusty old Melbournian lawyers etc) were absent.
Sunday we kicked off with the Town Hall (interesting meeting with clip from the old trams spruking the tram museum), Block Arcade and then it was time for my volunteer stint. Hubby managed to fit in Tasma Terrace and the steampunk exhibition and Treasury in Fitzroy Gardens.
Another successful Open House, looking forward to 2015!
